Sheila Nordon – Chairman – Social Finance Foundation hosted a Breakfast Briefing on Thursday 21st May in Buswells Hotel, Dublin.
Georges Gloukoviezoff, UCD Geary Institute, presented his Report entitled Creating Credit, not Debt.
The Report examines the need for a personal microloan scheme in Ireland, taking into account the experience of such schemes in other jurisdictions. Such a scheme could address the needs of individuals unable to obtain loans from the main lending organisations in Ireland. The study was jointly funded by the Central Bank of Ireland and the Social Finance Foundation.
Following the report presentation, Social Finance Foundation provided an update on a proposal being developed for such a scheme in Ireland.
Both the report and slides from the presentation are available for download below.
